Can't Relate to Affirmations? Try Sweary Affirmations - Sugar and Sloth Spotlight *swearing*
I find affirmations very cringey and I'm not very good at being nice to myself so when I try them I get into an argument with myself. The research says that you don't have to believe the affirmations you are telling yourself, that the more you repeat them the stronger they become in your mind and this can positively improve wellbeing. A while ago I found the best small business and supportive community ever - Sugar and Sloth (link). They are so amazing and provide things like fun worksheets based on therapy techniques, cute pins and colouring books, motivational and understanding emails, and so much more, and have an amazing group on Facebook Sugar and Sloth Besties (link).
Through Sugar and Sloth I found a way to use affirmations but I still get to be a little horrible to myself. I love their colouring books and they are full of sweary affirmations. So I can be a mindful by doing the colouring and also try and process the messages without getting into an argument with myself. I don't know how much I take in because I don't repeat affirmations but I have a wall of Sugar and Sloth postcards and also a mirror decal that says 'love yourself you stupid bitch' (not bought from Sugar and Sloth). I basically just enjoy swear words! It's definitely worth trying sweary affirmations if you can't get on board with the more directly positive ones and you don't mind swear words and won't take them as an insult to yourself.
A couple of my favourite colouring pages, the goose image above is also a colouring page I completed:
